Jonathan's team focuses on:
The mechanisms and the regulation of platelet biogenesis.
Their research focuses on how blood platelets, which function as the band-aids of the bloodstream, are produced from megakaryocyte precursor cells.
He’s now taking his team to new levels by bringing their work to the clinical and commercial world. He shares his entrepreneurial journey with other academic researchers who have similar interest in bringing their own science to the business world.
Please read Jonathan's latest piece in Cell Press on why scientists make great entrepreneurs.
Thanks to Dr. Jonathan Thon for joining us today to talk about his journey to lead a team of dedicated scientists to unraveling the mysteries behind platelet biology and what it takes to be a life science entrepreneur.

Today's show we ask Jonathan some of the following questions that has helped him to lead such an amazingly successful research team:
What made you decide to pursue the entrepreneurial route?
Who were your inspirational leaders in science?
What strategy did you use to make the switch to business?
How do you communicate your science in the business world?
What is a critical skill(s) that has helped you?
SOME OF WHAT WE LEARN IN THIS EPISODE:
Graduate and postdoc training has skills that can be translated in the entrepreneurial world.
Set your eyes on a specific destination and make a B-line for it.

Thank you for checking out The Leading Life Science Radio Podcast. We’d love to hear from you. So, please leave a comment or suggestions about questions you’d like to hear from our guests, that could help you on your scientific journey.
Also, please let us know what leaders in science inspire you to pursue a career in the life sciences. We'd love to bring them on the show, to share their experiences and to share their tips and strategies that has helped them to lead a successful life science venture.
Till the next time, happy sciencing.
